Position Summary:
This position is offered by a private company under contract to the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of the Job Corps.Reports to the Outreach/Admissions Manager. Provides outreach, assessment, admissions and case management of appropriate youth for the Job Corps program with emphasis on long-term commitment. Works with Job Corps center staff to coordinate services throughout career preparation. Develops and maintains relationship with other youth agencies and employment and training providers.
Essential Functions:
Interview and assess applicants to determine motivation, career goals, eligibility and suitability for the Job Corps program.Provide applicants with accurate information about center life, accommodations, standards of conduct and expectations.
Describe and define the Career Development Services System (CDSS) to all applicants and ensure commitment.
Utilize labor market information (LMI) to advise applicants concerning career outlook for vocational interests.
Prepare Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP) with each enrollee including long/short term goals, interests and aptitude.
Provide case management for each student and offer support and advocacy throughout enrollment.
Conduct timely data entry for all applicants in a data base.
Maintain documentation of all activities, prepare and submit reports as directed. Maintain timely verification of participant eligibility.
Notify applicants of assignment to Job Corps centers and ensure necessary travel arrangements to the center including departure and arrival verification.
Coordinate services with youth service agencies, One Stops, and other local and state agencies and organizations for student services.
Maintain confidentiality regarding all participants.
Ensure the Job Corps program maintains strong visibility with potential participants and other service providers who are sources of referrals.
Participate in marketing campaigns and outreach activities as directed to attract applicants and promote the Job Corps program.
Maintain knowledge of rules and regulations governing all related programs and services.
Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree and four years of experience working with youth or youth related programs. Relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of education requirements. One year of experience in sales, marketing or counseling relates services. Working knowledge of employment and training programs, recruitment techniques, career planning and goal assessment procedures. Good communication and case management skills. Sales and marketing skills, and public speaking skills required. Demonstrated skill in computer applications is a must (internet, word processing, spreadsheets). Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
