"CHP's integrity is very sound, value and standards are high."
-- Contracting Officer

The environmental problems of developing and transitional countries undermine sustainable development and threaten the global environment. Proper management of natural resources is critical to lasting economic growth.

CHP has extensive experience assisting communities with environmental education, forestry and agroforestry while promoting sustainable agricultural practices. We have designed and implemented environmental education and management training covering a host of topics including soil and natural resources conservation, hillside farming and irrigation, parks and wildlands development, and watershed management. We have developed environmental education curricula, trained informal groups of local farmers, and conducted formal presentations to local technicians both in the United States and abroad.

While they are still in training, development workers trained by CHP sharpen communication skills, learn non-formal education methods and acquire effective techniques for technology transfer by using these skill, methods and techniques in real settings. As part of the training program, the trainees conduct rural extension sessions and field days for local farmers and their families where they have an opportunity to establish rapport with the local people, to use clear and effective communication aids, and to devise effective, participatory leaming activities.
